He was co-owner of Wiley Realty and retired from General Motors with over 40 years of service and remains a proud member of UAW Local #659. Our Dad was a joiner, a leader and received numerous awards and recognitions, many from the following organizations, he was active in. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, The American Red Cross, Old Newsboys, United States Power Squadron, The Charlevoix Yacht Club, Retired Men’s Fellowship of Greater Flint and numerous neighborhood organizations. And when I became Honored Queen, my Dad was elected the Associate Guardian of Bethel #4 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters.
His dedication earned him the Grand Triangle of Honor and Honorary membership in our Bethel.
He was also a real travelin man! On any given day, he would grab Mom and go. Lunch in Toledo, fly to Chicago or drive to Indiana for the day. He loved to camp, in tents or trailers, He loved boating; owning speed boats and a yacht. Then sailing on ships to see the world. He took his family to see our country, saying, “You must experience your own country first, learn its history and visit with people, before traveling anywhere else!” He loved new places, dining, dancing and talking with people. Dad never met a stranger. Traveling to over 2 dozen countries. Dad loved a good joke, whether to hear one or tell one. He saw the humor in life, so laughter was a big part of our family.
Carl Amoss was one of the most giving men I know. Of his time, his possessions and his generosity. When he saw a need, he helped. He enjoyed all of these things, but above all he treasured his wife and family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Karla and husband Archie Smith;
Grandchildren, Kristie Marsh, Chad Amoss and wife Amy Amoss, Aaron Canaday, Rachel and husband Robin Schuberg along with six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, son Ronald Amoss and his sister, Helen Duberville.
