SCHLEGELMILCH, Richard Alton – of Burton, MI at age 82, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, Michigan. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Richard’s memory.
Best known as “Slugger”, Richard was the eldest child of Donald E. Schlegelmilch and Sophia K. Podulka Schlegelmilch, born on August 6, 1943, in Flint, Michigan. He worked, lived and helped raise a family in Flint and later in Burton, until his passing. Richard was employed his entire adult work life by Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan, where he worked on the Buick Railroad until his retirement.
On August 19, 1983, he married the love of his life, Sharon (Donnelly) Farah, with whom he remained happily married until her death on September 25, 2024.
Richard was a highly accomplished lifelong golfer, having spent his younger years excelling in basketball, football, track and all sports. He graduated from Bentley High School in Burton, Michigan in 1962. Richard also served in the National Guard in Michigan and was dispatched to Detroit during the riots of the early 1970's.
Richard will be profoundly missed by a large group of lifelong close friends, with whom he spent many wonderful fishing, hunting, golf and recreational moments. Richard is best remembered as a man who remained active until his death, practiced kindness and consideration to all he met, and for his lifelong excellence and commitment to golf, sports, and close friendships, and especially for his love for his wife, Sharon, and their family.
He is survived by his only brother, William (Marianne) Schlegelmilch of Homer, Alaska; four children, William Farah and companion Margaret Marks, Jeffrey (Karen) Farah, Cindy (Brian) Beckwith and Jason (Cindy) Farah, along with eight loving grandchildren; Jeremy Farah, Chelsea Farah, Taylor Farah, Carly (Logan) Wiley, Gavin Beckwith and fiancé Sarah Smith, Faith Beckwith, Meg Farah and Will Farah; great-granddaughter, Mila Wiley, his Aunt, Jenny Podulka of Palm Desert, California, numerous cousins and many close friends.
