Case, Irene M. - age 87 of Flint, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48507 with Pastor Brad Foster officiating. The service will also be live streamed and can be viewed via the link at the base of this obituary. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM Thursday until the time of service. For those who desire, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Irene to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
Irene was born on August 17, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late Frank and Margie (Shepard) Voakes. She graduated from Flint Central High School and began a 30 year career with General Motors, eventually retiring in 1992. She was an active member, and Queen, of the Grand Blanc Chapter of the Red Hats Society. Irene enjoyed gardening, crafting, time with her grandchildren and simply just enjoyed life.
Surviving is her daughter, Kandi (Lenny) Pyland of Burton. Grandchildren, Nicole Rex of Burton and Sarah (Brian Bednarski) Pyland of Flint. Great-grandchildren, Shiann, Cash, and Jenna. Brother, John Voakes and many nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; parents; siblings, Judy; Ruth; Frank.
