Florence M. (Hintermeister) Erps, 90, of Davenport passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2011 at her home, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 am Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or St. Mark Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Florence was born January 11, 1921 in Davenport, the daughter of Hubert and Florence (Cooper) Hintermeister. She married Harlan Erps on February 20, 1939 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2009.
She was employed by the Davenport Community Schools for 25 years. Following her retirement she volunteered to help children learn to read.
Her memberships included St. Mark Lutheran Church, its Maya Winther Circle of King’s Daughters, and Plus 60 Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking for family gatherings, playing cards and scrabble, and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include her children: Ronald (Janet) Erps of Prescott, AZ, Richard (Cheryl) Erps of Davenport, and Janalyn (Mark) Wakeland, residing in Missouri; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Shollenberger.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hintermeister and a brother-in-law, Harlan Shollenberger.
