LIPFORD, Sandra Jane -age 75, of Atlas, died at her residence August 1, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-12:00PM with a funeral service beginning at 12:00PM, Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Pastor Josh Combs officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Sandra was born February 17, 1939 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Vopel L. and Velma A. (Britt) Watkins. She married Joseph L. Lipford in Pontiac, MI on July 31, 1959. She spent her life dedicated to taking care of others. Being the oldest of nine children, she was always the “matriarch” of the family. Sandra enjoyed creating beautiful works of art using watercolors. She will always be remembered for singing Gospel hymns and waking the children up in the morning by singing “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. Sandra was a member of The Point-Atlas Baptist Church. Surviving are parents Vopel and Velma Watkins; daughter, Karen (Dan ) Fischer; siblings Ann Toombs, Buddy (Patty) Watkins, Don (Janice) Watkins, Allen (Dianna) Watkins, Kim (Rob Johnson) Sheehan, and Kent (Janet) Watkins; grandchildren, Bryan, Samuel, and Andrea Fischer; daughter-in-law, Juliet (Jim) Hentshel; brother-in-law, Tim Lacey; sister-in-law, Shelley Watkins; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Stan Ries, Nancy Myers, and Bonnie Walters. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lipford; son, Joseph Bryan Lipford; sister, Kathy Lacey; brother, Philip Watkins; and brother-in-law, Tommy Toombs.
