CAROL JR., John Alexander – of Flint, age 90, passed away July 31, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 11 AM Friday, August 3, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. John Machiorlatti officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
John was born in Flint, MI on December 26, 1927, son of the late John and Olga (Niedzielski) Carol. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. John was also a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army through Michigan State ROTC during the Korean War. He married Catherine Patricia Wylie on May 1, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2008. John is a Michigan State University Alumni. He retired from GM in 1987 after helping develop six patents. After his retirement, he helped his cousin charter fish on the SunRay II. John was a member of the Polish Legion of the American Vets Post #8 and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed photography and had his own studio. He enjoyed quality time watching MSU games and eating pizza with son, John. John also regularly attended U of M football games with his son, Dennis. He treasured time spent watching his grandson’s baseball games. In recent years, he enjoyed travelling to Scotland to visit family and friends.
John is survived by his children, John Patrick Carol and Dennis (Nancy) Carol; grandchild, Jacob Coultas; sisters, Julie Jeffs and Janet Raffee; very dear family friends, Irene Marr, Steph, Alison, and Heather Murphy and Robo and Christine Robertson. He was preceded in death by brother, Jim Gazy Carol.
