Deacon Crain Alaska Thompson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Kith Haven at the age of 68. Crain was born at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan on November 23, 1957, to T.J. & Elnora Thompson. Crain attended Flint Community Schools, graduating from Northwestern High School in 1976. Crain was employed at General Motors where he worked diligently until he was no longer able. Crain gave his life over to Lord and joined Kingdom First Church, under the leadership of Pastor Antwain Alexander, where he served faithfully as a Deacon for nearly 15 years until his failing health. Crain leaves to cherish his memory; partner, Antinett Avery; four daughters, Equina Hartwell, Shakera “Keisha” (Marcus) Sims, Alaska Carbins, & LaQuenta Avery; nine grandchildren; Jordan Hayman, Leonard Newton, London Robinson, Joe Wilkerson, Daniel Cannon, Daven Cannon, Malyia Lee, Serenidy Garland, & Davion Stocker; three great grandchildren, Rhyan Hayman, Rhylee & Khylee Newton; four sisters; Mercede (Kirwin) Kinnee, Evelyn Curry, Cathis Lee, & Eugene Lee; brother Darnell Thompson. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; including special cousin, Susie Childress and friend, Greg Pidgin Crain was preceded in death by parents, T.J. & Elnora Thompson; sisters, Diane Durio & Beverly Wakefield; brothers-in-law, Amos Durio & Otis Curry. The family would like to extend special thanks to Pastor Antwain Alexander & Kingdom First Church family, Dana Alexander, Kith Haven, Hurley Davita, Nurse Michelle, and special niece Laquan Marshall “Tweetie”.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 3, 2026 with a 10:30am family hour at Serenity Funeral Chapel, 2340 W. Carpenter Rd., Flint, MI 48505. Calling hours are 1:00pm-6:00pm Friday, October 2, 2026 at Serenity Funeral Chapel. |
