Diane was born on March 12, 1956, in Floresville, Texas, the daughter of Rafael and Irene (Quintanilla) Reyes. She was educated locally and graduated from Northwestern High School with the Class of 1974. Following high school, Diane began attending Mott Community College through their Tinsmith Apprenticeship Program while also working for General Motors. She discovered a true passion for the tinsmith trade and took great pride in her work. Her dedication and love for the craft led to a fulfilling 15-year career before her retirement in 2000.
Diane’s greatest joy, however, was the people she loved. She met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Rutter, and the two were united in marriage on December 6, 1986, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint, building a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
Those who knew Diane will remember her for the warmth she brought to the people around her. While she loved traveling with Jerry and gathering around the table for board games and bingo, her grandchildren were the true center of her world. She possessed a natural gravity that always drew her to her grandchildren, finding her greatest happiness whenever they were near. She instinctively gravitated toward their laughter and energy, making it her mission to pour love into their lives and cherish every moment spent by their side. The memories they made together will remain a lasting legacy, deeply treasured by Jerry, her grandchildren, and their family for years to come.
Diane’s greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to her family. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Jerry; children: Juan Gutierrez and Diane (Michael) Garcia; grandchildren: Michael II, Brayden, Dylan, and Gabriella; sister, Belen (Tony) Alverez; aunt, Delia Carrilo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Irene Reyes. |
