Arnold was a man of strength, conviction, and a devoted family man. Family was everything to him, hence, why the sta? at the di?erent rehab homes he stayed in, always said he was spoiled, because he had constant visitors. They also referred to Arnold as “The Historian” as he was a voracious reader and loved watching documentaries and learning about modern history. Arnold worked hard at his stroke recovery, learning to walk again, and came home for five months to his newly remodeled wheelchair compliant home, which made him happy. Arnold was born in Mt. Morris, MI, December 1, 1935, to Milo and Eula Peck. After residing in Poplar Bluff, MO for years, his family moved up to Michigan, where he graduated from Beecher High School in 1953. Arnold became a Master Plumber & Pipefitter, starting out working with his father. He soon became a loyal and proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 370 and had been the Vice President for a time. He was still involved with his union after retirement in his 50’s.

Arnold met the love of his life, Mary Lou Jewell, from Cheboygan, MI shortly after graduating from high school. They were married on December 10, 1955. Marylou preceded Arnold in death on October 17, 2012. Their marriage was one of a shared love of family, music, dancing, lifelong friendships, bowling and playing cards. Arnold and Mary Lou immediately started their family, living in the Kearsley area all their lives. Surviving children are Terri Foco (Wyatt), Linda Henderson, Chris Peck (Sandy). Son, Steven Peck, died in 1991. Arnold was an avid outdoorsman, loving to go hunting and fishing with his sons, extended family and friends. He and Mary Lou often brought their grandsons with them on camping trips to fish in Canada, and he loved visiting the National Parks. After his wife passed, Arnold started going on American Cruise Lines River Boat Excursions. He wanted to see places around our country that he had not visited previously. Arnold was also a Master Craftsman, building his own solar home, doing remodels and additions to other homes. He taught his sons to excel in these building crafts as well. But his greatest enjoyment came from frequent family get togethers and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved being called Grandpa and Poppy and loved spoiling his babies. Arnold was a force of nature! He had strong opinions and beliefs, and it did not take one long to find out what those beliefs were. He loved debating and was not keen to losing. But these very qualities were passed down to his children and grandchildren, helping us to believe in being true to ourselves and standing up for what is right. He is leaving quite the legacy for his family to impart these same values and convictions to the next generation.

Arnold loved the Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and college football, and enjoyed spending time with his family watching the games together. Arnold and Mary Lou’s beloved grandchildren are Amanda Ewald (Justin), Aron Henderson (Brittany), Hailey Blasdell (Gil), Cody Peck (Savannah). Their great grandchildren are Emma, Ruby, Henry, Gri?n, Dominic, Katarra and Ryan. Arnold is also survived by his sister, Carol (Darryl) Willard, twin brothers Gary (Kathy) and Jerry (Alma) Peck, brother in laws, Louis Jewell, Neil Smith, sister-in-law Karen Jewell, special family friend, Kay Marticio, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven, wife, Mary Lou, sister, Maxine, and many brothers and sisters in laws.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Arnold’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
