Szukhent, Paddy Ann “Pat” of Flushing, age 78, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Heartland Health Care-Fostrian with her family by her side. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church until time of the Mass. A Scripture Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Pat was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 24, 1936, the daughter of Carl and Winifred (Penard) Kovacs. She graduated from Parma High School in 1954 and attended University of Michigan and Flint Junior College. She married Mike “Ted” Szukhent in Parma, Ohio on July 5, 1958. They raised three boys in the Cleveland area until moving to Flushing in 1975.
Pat was an owner of Create-a-Craft where she excelled in painting and crafts. She also worked for the Flushing Observer, Rossell Funeral Home and St. Robert Parish office until her retirement in 2003. She loved spending time during the summer at their cottage in Alpena.
Pat will be greatly missed by her husband of 57 years, Ted, and their children, Mike and Terri Szukhent, Jeff and Janelle Szukhent and Joel and Brenda Szukhent, all of Flushing. She was extremely proud of her eight grandchildren, Bradley, Lenee', Ryan, Scot and wife Jennifer, Jessica, Samantha, Blake and Alec, and her six great-grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Winifred Kovacs
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Fostrian for their care, attention and companionship during her stay there. |
