VOMVOLAKIS, THEODORE E. “TED” – Of Flint, age 65, passed peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Ted was born in Flint, Michigan on March 26, 1955, the son of Emmanuel and Mary (Assimos) Vomvolakis.
Ted lived 1000 years in 65 calendar years. He touched many lives and was always the life of the party. Those who were fortunate enough to know Ted knew they were always going to have a good story and a laugh. He wrote his own rules and lived life to the absolute fullest.
From a young age Ted paved his own way, becoming an entrepreneur he reveled in his businesses. He owned and operated The Raincheck Lounge, Genesee Bar, Theo’s Party Store and Finish Line Auto Wash. He was also very involved with Flint hockey, at one point being part owner of the Flint Spirits.
When he wasn’t serving his award winning ribs or cultivating life long bonds with his many patrons, Ted loved golfing, skiing, and was an avid scuba diver. The water truly called to him. One of Ted’s lifelong passions was also boating. He shared many cherished memories boating with his family and friends.
Ted also had a very giving heart and an immense love for animals. Rescuing any animal in need, big or small. Ted’s door was always open, laughter and good company was always served and all were welcome at his table.
Surviving are daughters, Katerina “Kitty” and Stephanie Vomvolakis and their mother, Maria Marks Vomvolakis;
mother, Mary Vomvolakis;
brother, Tony Vomvolakis;
nephew, Manny Vomvolakis and niece, Paizley Vomvolakis;
many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emmanuel Vomvolakis.
Private funeral service will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. The Very Reverend Father Joseph Abud officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. Sunday, February 28th at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Due to Covid-19, and government regulations, only 25 guests will be allowed to the visitation at one time. Mask, group capacity, and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
A Trisagion service will also be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made per family wishes.
