KERBY, Thomas Ray. – of Mt. Morris, age 83, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Central Baptist Church, 2211 Center Rd., in Flint. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 12PM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Central Baptist Church.
Tom was born March 12, 1935 in Madison County, Tennessee to the late William Hugh and Vera Grace (Singleton) Kerby. While in high school, Tom became a member of the United States Naval Reserve for 8 years. He moved to Michigan shortly after graduation and began work for General Motors. Tom went on to work in the real estate business performing sales and brokering. He was the tax assessor for Montrose Township, and the tax assessor and building official for Davison Township before retiring in 1999. Tom was a proud lifetime member of the Flint Lodge #23 F.&A.M, and a noble, devoted member of Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved fishing, boating, and camping. Tom looked forward to his special annual fishing trip with his son, Thom. He loved family cookouts spending time with all his grandchildren, card games, his beloved dog, Holly, and watching the Detroit Tiger’s with his wife, Carole.
Surviving are: Wife of 31 years, Carole Kerby; Children: Thomas Kerby, Meredith (Warner) Fochler, Bryan (Joan) Beckelic, Scott (Elaine) Beckelic, Melissa (Mike) Glasgow; Several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; Sister, Vera Jane (Dwayne) Kennon; Several nieces and nephews.
