Betty Lou (Sutliff) English
May 14, 1931 - May 4, 2026
Betty Lou English, 94, of Owosso, passed away peacefully Monday, May 4, 2026. Born May 14, 1931, in Owosso to LaMott and Virginia (Kingsbury) Sutliff, she was a graduate of Ovid High School and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She married Wayne English on June 24, 1950; he preceded her in death in 2023. For many years Betty worked as a caregiver, sharing her compassion and warmth with others. She never missed a soap opera, and proudly cheered for the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Above all, her greatest joy came from her family-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children Dennis English, Lon (Ruth) English, and Douglas English; grandchildren Shane English, Staci (Jim Huff), Peris (Geremy) West, and Mikenna (Scott Chapman) English; and great-grandchildren Anton English, Domanick Huff, Vada English, Lyric West, and Blake Huff-along with many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne, her parents, and three sisters.
Services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 8, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Shiawassee Humane Society.
