WHITE, Herchell A. – of Clio, age 83, died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Funeral services will take place 11AM, Monday, November 12, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 12PM until 3PM and on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, or the American Lung Association.
Herchell was born August 6, 1935 in Dobson, North Carolina to the late Paul and Grace (Callahan) White. He graduated from Dobson High School in 1953. Herchell married Marie Doss on November 29, 1958 in North Carolina. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 4 years as a radio operator. Herchell retired from AC Spark Plug in 1995 with 31 years seniority and was a member of UAW Local #651. He was known as “The Corn Man”. Herchell loved gardening and selling crops at his road stand. He also enjoyed reading and western movies. In his earlier years he loved rabbit and raccoon hunting. Herchell loved to tell a good story rather you were listening or not.
Surviving are: Wife, Marie White; Children: Pamela (Jim) Worthington, Steven (Susie) White, Timothy White, Samauel (Laurie) White, and Tina Wright; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; Brothers: Charles (Helen) White and Arnold White; Sisters: Carolyn (Linville) Money, Josephine (Terry) Hardy, and Rebecca Carter; Brother-in-law, Clayton Doss and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Benton White and sister, Mary Sue White. The family would like to extend a special thank you to, Dawn Frisbee for her compassionate care of Herchell.
