Beloved husband, brother and uncle passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 88 years. The son of the late Frank and Margaret (McCarty) Bueche, Joseph was born on September 6, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. He traveled the world while he served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Joseph married Helen Czarnecki, his loving wife of 40 years, on November 25, 1970 in Bay City, Michigan. She survives him. Joseph was an Estimator for Michigan Bell for 41 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and American Legion Post #439. He loved traveling, especially to his cabin in Rose City where he introduced his nieces and nephews to nature in the woods. Joseph had a vivid memory with directions which eventually earned him the nickname of “Joe Pathfinder”. When traveling, Joseph would often pick up stones and rocks and bring them home and set them around his yard. Later in life Joseph became a “Grandpa Moses” by painting nature scenes.
Surviving besides his wife Helen is a sister, Mary Bueche; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty (Jim) Bueche-Schmidt, Frank and Geri Czarnecki, Don Cruson, Mary and John Vassolo, Damien Czarnecki, Rita Waynee and Judith Czarnecki; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters, Thomas Bueche, Ann DeFranco and Jane Cantin, also a sister-in-law, Marge Cruson
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Post #439. Honoring Mr. Bueche’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
