Jacqueline Joyce Irish, of Swartz Creek, formerly of North Dakota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday September 24, 2026. She was 90 years old.
Born August 14, 1936 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Edmund and Helen (Weatherwax) Hodges. On May 12, 1970, she married Lyle Roger Irish. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2016. Jacqueline was a devoted christian and loved sharing her faith. She enjoyed growing and sharing from her garden, baking, and sewing outfits for her children and grandchildren. Most of all she enjoyed and cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Jacqueline is survived by her five sons; Timothy (Bethany) Dawes of Fenton, Steven (Shane) Dawes of Swartz Creek, Blair (Victoria) Dawes of North Dakota, Jason (Cindy) Dawes of Saranac and Darin (Chelly Frizzell ) Dawes of Hastings; adopted daughter Su Jenson (Rick) of Belleville IL; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and her sister Yvonne Burns of Virginia Beach, VA.; and her puppy (Cooper the wonder dog)
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Ricky Jenson, sister Patricia Hagerman, and brother Melvin Hodges.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Esther Irish will officiate. There will be visitation on Wednesday from 12:00pm until time of the service. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Thursday, October 1st at 12:30pm. |
