SHELTON, Dorothy Anne – of Flint, age 87, passed away August 5, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, August 10, 2018 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3222 S. Genesee Rd., Burton; Rev. Dr. Daniel Wonderly officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was born in Lucas, MI on May 8, 1931, daughter of the late Richard and Tillie (Gloff) Elenbaas. She graduated from McBain High School and moved to Flint, MI. Dorothy married Elton Shelton on April 28, 1956 and they had three children, Michelle, Michael and Bryce. Elton preceded her in death on November 18, 2003. For several years, she helped the Sisters of St. Joseph in Flint and later cared for the elderly. Dorothy was a member of the Teamsters Local 332 in Flint. She loved her family and friends. For many years, she enjoyed playing the organ in the Flint Area Lutheran Churches.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Bryce (Pam) Shelton, Michelle Allen; step daughter, Eleanor (Floyd) Hinkson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Pat) Elenbaas; step brothers, Ed Bekken and Ken (Iva) Bekken; sister-in-law, Joan Elenbaas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Michael; great-grandson, Justin; brothers Marvin, Gordon, Clayton, Wilbur, Art and Ray; sister, Edith Quist; step sisters, Gert (Claude) Marcus and Francis Bekken.
