The former Anna Joyce Turnipseed Mason of Flushing, age 92, passed away December 28, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Calvary Christian Church, 7315 Corunna Rd, Swartz Creek with Pastor Manley C. Pierce officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 pm Wednesday at Rossell Funeral home and Thursday from 10 am until 11 am at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian Church.
Anna was born on July 18, 1925 in Kalkaska, Michigan, the daughter of Alfred and Florence (Ball) Turnipseed. She graduated from Kalkaska High School and then went to stay with missionaries on Long Island while she was attending cosmetology school in Times Square, New York City.
She married Jack B. Mason on December 31, 1943 in Spencer, Michigan. He was a teacher in the Flushing School District for 28 years. Jack preceded her in death on August 1, 1979. Anna worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years in Flushing, Michigan. She was a member of Calvary Christian Church and Circle of Friends.
She is survived by three children, daughter, Gloria Mason-Hardy and husband Ron W.; son, David Michael Mason and wife Dorothy; daughter, Rebekah Mason Brown and husband Jim; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
Anna and her husband Jack were founding members of Calvary Christian Church in Swartz Creek.
