ZINN, Alwayne Mae (Buchanan) - Of Grand Blanc, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, August 28, 2026, at Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held 11:30 am, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Hope United Methodist Church, 4467 Beecher Road, Flint,
Pastor Gregory Timmons Sr. officiating.
Visitation 10:30am Friday at church until the time of the service.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Alwayne was born in Flint, Michigan on August 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Charles and Elma Buchanan. She graduated from Flint Technical High School, Class of 1954. Alwayne went on to work at General Motors as a Key Punch Data Operator. On June 1, 1963, she married Harold Zinn. Once they started their family, she devoted herself to being home with her children. Her greatest joy of being a mom was sharing her love. Alwayne enjoyed reading, sewing, doing crafts, walking and helping the church. Alwayne returned to the workforce in 1980 at Sears, where she worked for 20 plus years. Every concert, game, recital, field trip, every moment that mattered, she was there. Playing, watching movies, taking trips, having sleepovers with her grandchildren without question brought her the greatest joy. Alwayne was a very smart, generous, determined woman who would help anyway she could. Alwayne was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and a friend to all.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann (Ronald) Plamondon;
Son, Andrew Zinn (Bridgette Zittel);
Loving grandchildren, Jennie (Michael) Merrill, Kelcie (Philip) Partyka, Annie (Lance) Willette and Aric Plamondon;
Great-grandsons, Walker Willette and Casimir Partyka;
And brother, Charles (Florence) Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 2024.
