Eva A. Smith of Flint, formerly of Ellenton, FL, age 97, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Rossell Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday until time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellenton United Methodist Church, 3607 US Highway 301 N, Ellenton, FL 34222.
Eva was born in Harrisville, MI on December 6, 1916, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie (Southgate) Spencer. She married Howard L. Smith in Flint on August 31, 1946. He preceded her in death in December of 1991.
Eva dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. Her family was her life and she was extremely proud of them all. She made Christmas special with memories that will last a lifetime. She was a wonderful cook and there was no one who could bake a better pie, liked to play Euchre and loved to win, and was a champion shopper. In her youth, she enjoyed bowling and basketball. During her lifetime, Eva worked at AC Spark Plug in Flint, and retired with her husband to Ellenton, FL. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Smith is survived by: three sons, Larry and wife Michele McCullough of Flint, Terry and wife Wenona McCullough of Lakeland, FL, Gary and wife Shirley McCullough of Swartz Creek; nine grandchildren, Laura, Cindy, Sherrie, Donald, Michael, Christina, Cathleen, Randall and Jenny; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by seven siblings. |
