Donald R. Matthias, age 69, of Columbiaville died February 15, 2018 at McLaren - Lapeer surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born May 20, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Richard and Dorothy Matthias. He later married Wanda C. Boone on June 7, 1969 in Flint, Michigan. Donald retired from Lakeville Community schools in 2009 after 34 years of teaching. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing and teaching chess, but most of all he loved to spend time with grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife Wanda, children: Todd (Natalie), Matthias Jason (Staci) Matthias, and Emily (Mike) Bradley, siblings: Jim (Diane) Matthias, Laura (Rusty) Rapai, Robert (Michele) Matthias, Sue (Mike) Burguard, Judy (Marty) Fowler, Sandy (Joe) Drake, grandchildren: Lane, Evelyn, Ava, and Clara. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Tyler Caron, siblings: Kenneth, Caro, Mark, Donna.
Funeral service 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville, where friends may visit Monday 3:00 to 9:00 PM. Rev. Ann Norton officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Don may be made to the McLaren Pulmonary Rehab in Lapeer .
