COLLIER, Florence (Gula) - Of Flint, age 99, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Maple Woods Manor in Clio.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Holy Redeemer Church, 1227 East Bristol Rd., Reverend Father Georges Bidzogo officiating.
Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held beginning at 3pm until 6:30pm on Sunday, May 18 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Collier will be at the church from 12pm Monday until the time of the Funeral Mass at 1pm.
Those desiring may make contributions on behalf of Florence to Catholic Charities of Flint/Genesee County or Holy Redeemer Church.
Florence was born in Detroit, Michigan on Jan 6, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Sally (Wojcik) Gula. She graduated from Northern High School in Flint in 1944; served in WWII as a Cadet Nurse; and then graduated from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. On June 14, 1949 she married Charles E. Collier in Flint, with whom she had five sons. Florence and Charles were married for 58 years before Charles’s passing in 2008. Florence was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Surviving her are her sons, Mark (Diane) Collier of Virginia, Curtis (Deb) Collier of Grand Blanc, Jeffrey Collier of Flint, Matthew Collier of Flint, Craig (Linh) Collier of Virginia; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her brother, Chester; her sister, Patricia; and her great-grandson, Alexander.
