KNAPP, Marvin D. – of Clio, age 75, passed away December 11, 2017 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Jim Marcus officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be 2 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM – 2 PM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clio, Lighthouse Baptist Church or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Marv was born in Flint, MI on May 24, 1942, son of the late Gerald and Thelma (Smith) Knapp. He married Martha Kempf on June 1, 1963. Marv proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from AC Spark Plug after 34 years of service. Marv has enjoyed attending and being active with his church, fishing, doing yard work and socializing and being with friends.
Marv is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha; children, Joseph (Carrie) Knapp, Amy Hawkins, Jason (Pilar) Knapp; grandchildren, Zachary, Adrienne, Ian, Jackson, Ashley, Antonio, Judah, Ursula, Elias, Afifi, Marta, Carmen; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Emily, Isabella, Camille; sister-in-law, Laura Wallis; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Knapp; three brothers-in-law, Steven Kempf, Denis Sousa, Chester Wallis; one daughter-in-law, Janice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wellspring Homecare and Hospice of Frankenmuth and the VA of Saginaw and Ann Arbor for their loving care.
