Please join us in celebrating the life of Lee Edwin Lannon, II, who lived his life in service to his family, country, church, and community. He was born on December 20, 1936, to Lee Edwin and Idale (Cook) Lannon in Flint, Michigan. Ed married Carolyn “Sue” Young in 1958, eventually welcoming three sons and five grandchildren into their family.

He enlisted in the National Guard in 1954, became an officer in 1962, and spent many summers serving at Grayling. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after over 30 years of Army service. In 1957, Ed was hired by General Motors, where he rose to assistant traffic manager after earning his degree in logistics management from Central Michigan University in 1985.

The Lannons joined Bristol United Methodist Church in 1974, and throughout their 40 years of membership, Ed served in many leadership roles. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts as a youth and adult, earning the God and Country Award, and a lifetime member of the Masons. Ed and Sue also joined the Waggin’ Wheels Camping Club in 1986, making many close friends and happy memories.

Following retirement, Ed and Sue became snowbirds in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he enjoyed golfing, serving on the community board, and volunteering at the hospital. They enjoyed summers up north at The Flats campground in Sanford, Michigan.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Edwin. He is survived by his wife Sue, sons Scott (Pamela) Lannon and Brent (Karin) Lannon, and five grandchildren: Sydney (Tom) Lantzy, Madison Lannon, Elliot Lannon, Payton Lannon, and Dominic Lannon, along with siblings Bruce (Gail) Lannon, Kathryn Lannon, and Joan Jones.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Genesee County (genesseehumane.org) in honor of the many dogs who brought joy to Ed’s life.
