July 25, 1949 - August 27, 2025 Thomas Michael Smorch A kind man with a gentle spirit who had a smile that not only lit up a room but that you felt in your soul filling you with warmth and light. Preceded in death by his 28 year significant other and partner in crime Marian Gamble. Also preceded in death by his parents Ted and Pauline (Honey) Smorch. He is in good hands on the other side! Survived by Daughter Kimberlie (Kevin) Dolan, Sister Debbie (John) Holtslander, Grandson Brennan (Elizabeth) Hafer, Grandchildren Veronica & Joseph Hafer, Niece Jessica Funch, Great Niece Emmie Funch, Bonus Daughter Carol (John) Brockschmidt and family. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Eastern Religions and a Master’s in Library Science. Professionally he automated the Genesee District Libraries from card catalog to scanning barcodes. He also co-authored a book called “Planning Second Generation Automated Library Systems”. A life dedicated to philanthropy, photography, bamboo painting, philosophy, Blues/Jazz and Buddhism. A special heartfelt thank you to all of you who helped us along this journey especially to his earth angel Nurse Chelsea Moore and Matthew Jackson from the apartments!
