Bills, Jane Kay, (formerly Van Zee), age 78, of Flushing, went to be with the Lord on May 5th, 2026. She was born on April 1st, 1948, in Kalamazoo Michigan, daughter of Ralph and Hattie Van Zee.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Rossell Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. on Monday until the time of service. A private burial will be held at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
Jane’s faith in God made her a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, wife and teacher. She taught for 38 years in Flushing Schools as a 5th grade teacher. After retirement she continued to substitute teach in Flushing community schools and at St. Roberts school in Flushing. Teaching was one of the great joys of her life and she often mentioned that teaching 5th graders kept her young at heart.
Jane loved her family and always put them first. She always looked for a way to help, even when she should have been relaxing! She never missed an opportunity to see her children and grandchildren. She was a very special person, best mother, best grandmother and best friend. She is loved so much and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Dave; sons, Mike and Steve; grandchildren, David and Teresa, and sister Esther. One sister Marylin preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s memory are suggested to St. Robert Catholic School.
