Ronald W. Wacker, 79, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. Following cremation, visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Mr. Wacker was born July 13, 1931 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Isola (Bridges) Wacker. On October 27, 1950, he married Rosemary Brawner. She preceded him in death February 6, 1983. On May 19, 1984, he married Blanche Groat. She preceded him in death November 12, 2003.
Ron grew up and graduated from high school in Wilton, Iowa. He became a carpenter and several of his homes were featured in the Parade of Homes of the Quad Cities. His hobbies included traveling, hunting, and hand fishing (noodling).
Survivors include his children and spouses: Bruce and Lynn Wacker of Blue Grass, Sheryl and William “Bill” Berglund of Davenport, Edwin and Lana Wacker of Davenport, Patricia and Dave Benson residing in Colorado, and Darla and Daniel Heritage of Blue Grass; nine grandchildren: Jeannie, Laura, Richard, Joannie, Kyle, Michael, Kristy, Kevin, and Tasha; thirteen great grandchildren: Logan, Jordan, Morgan, Darian, Brandon, Regan, Parker, Emma, Brecken, Mackenzie, Dillon, Kaiden, and Blake.
