DeRell V. Johnston, a native of Bettendorf, IA passed away in Sacramento, CA on April 5, 2011. He was born to Vernon and Edith Johnston on November 11, 1943. Family and friends are invited to funeral services, Friday, April 15, 2011 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at The Runge Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations in DeRell’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
DeRell worked as a parts manager for Big River Equipment, his home away from home for over 40 years of his life. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His incredible wit, humor and charisma will be missed as all who knew him can attest that laughter was DeRell’s first weapon of choice.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Johnston; son Adam Johnston; daughter-in-law, Eva Johnston of Sacramento; brother, Scott Johnson and his wife Sue; sister, Deanna Driskell and her husband Dale.
