Clayton, Mr. Charles Alvin "Sonny Man" age - 71 passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, April 7, 2014 from the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2120 N. Saginaw St., Rev. Ira G. Edwards, Sr. officiating, Rev. Keith Bigelow host Pastor. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 am for visitation. Mr. Clayton now repose in the Chapel of the Martin J. Banks Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1pm to 8 pm Sunday evening.

Mr. Charles Alvin Clayton was born May 11, 1942 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the son of Sam and Elnora (Fizer) Clayton.

Mr. Clayton attended Dyersburg Public Schools before relocating to Flint, Michigan in 1963. He was employed by Fisher Body #1 and Buick City retiring in 1999 and a member of UAW Local 599. Mr. Clayton enjoyed working on cars and houses and various projects. Mr. Clayton enjoyed traveling and talking on his CB radio; his handle was "Mad Dog 20/20."

Mr. Clayton leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Debbie Dancer of Dyersburg, TN, Leatrice Brock of Flint, MI, and La'Nora Clayton of Huntsville, Alabama; son, Charles Owens; stepson, Demtrius Crutcher both of Flint, MI; 7 grandchildren, Jazmaine Harris, Dalonja Crum, and Zavaion Owens all of Flint, MI, Germany and Tanajah Clayton both of Huntsville, AL, Gabrielle and Koston Dancer; 1 great-grandchild, Liston Dancer all of Dyersburg, TN; 1 sister, Mary Elizabeth Freeman; 1 brother, Curtis Clayton both of Flint, MI; 3 nieces, Barbara Ann, Sandra Faye, and April Gaylor; 1 nephew, James (Cassandra) Gaylor all of Flint, MI; a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Clayton was preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen West; mother, Elnora McLemore and stepfather, Earnest McLemore; 2 sisters, Fannie Mae Clayton and Mary Gaylor; niece, Linda Gaylor; and nephew, Christopher Thompson.
