Barbara Ann Masengarb, 63, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 10, 2011 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Runge Mortuary with a prayer service at 7 P.M . Burial will be Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Barbara was born on March 11, 1947 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Dismer) Newcomb. She married John Masengarb on November 16, 1968 in Moline, IL.
She was a giving woman who put her family first in all that she did before herself. She loved going to St. Alphonsus Church and was a lifelong member having attended school there. She was a John Wayne and Elvis fan. She collected porcelain dolls, Isabel Blooms and Precious Moments. She also enjoyed solving Sudoku Puzzles, and playing Triominos and Boggle.
She is survived by her husband, John; her mother, Betty Newcomb; children, Julie Hildebrandt; John (Shelly) Masengarb, Jr.; Lynn (Arturo) Calzada, and Michael (Andi) Masengarb; three sisters, Connie (Ernie) Seitz, Vicki (Jerry) Meyer, and Debbie Pavano; one brother, John Newcomb, Jr.; and nine grandchildren with one granddaughter on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
