RUTHERFORD, Kathleen Marie – Of Flint, age 81, died peacefully Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Henry Ford Genesys surrounded by her three children.
A memorial service will be held 3pm Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Deacon Ron Kenney officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday and 1pm Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family or Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton.
Kathleen was born in Flint, Michigan on March 19, 1944, the daughter of the late Anthony and Regina (Kilijanski) Koziel. She graduated from Southwestern High School, Class of 1962. On June 6, 1964, she married Gary Wayne Rutherford in Flint, Michigan. Kathleen worked at dental offices and was a sub in Grand Blanc schools. She also worked at Allstate Insurance and Van Dyke Mortgage retiring in 2021. She was a lifetime member of the Does Flint Elks 222, where she was President for many years. Kathleen was a longtime member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She never missed her grandchildren’s sports activities or life events. Kathleen enjoyed attending or watching the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers games.
Surviving are children, Jennifer (Gary) Howard of Linden, Stacey L. Rutherford of Grand Blanc, Adam C. Rutherford of Grand Blanc;
Grandchildren, Breanna K. Howard (Marshael Ryan), Nathan G. Howard (Jillian Widner);
Step-grandchildren, Shelby (Noah) Day, JD Hennessey and Sophie;
Sister, Regina Johnston of Arizona;
Brother-in-law, Ron (Jan) Rutherford of Grand Blanc;
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
