Bolen (Gonzalez), Maria - age 87, of Flushing, Michigan died on April 5, 2024. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 W. Coldwater Road Flint, MI 48505 with Fr. Strouse celebrant. Attendees are invited to join the family at a luncheon at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Activity Center following the mass. Visitation will be held 2-7 pm Friday, April 12, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Home, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Township, MI 48507 where a rosary will be prayed at 7 pm Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions can be made to the MariaEstela Perry Scholarship Fund at Mott Community College. Maria was born September 15, 1936 in Floresville, Texas and moved to Flint, Michigan in 1938. She was the daughter of Jesus and Marianna Ascencio. She married Ramon Gonzalez in 1953, had six children, and divorced in 1984. Maria married Jim Bolen on January 31, 1994 and she retired from General Motors Flint Truck & Bus after 25 years of dedicated hard work, a hallmark of her personality. Maria was incredibly family centric, prioritizing family above all else, and always loving and counseling them. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, often seen donning a red hat with whatever fabulous, rhinestoned ensemble she was adorned in. Maria was an exceptional amateur landscape artist, enjoyed learning new crafts, listening to live music at the Eagles, and enjoyed watching any number of cooking shows. Surviving are: husband of 30 years, Jim Bolen of Flushing; siblings, Juan Ascencio and Frances Ascencio; children, RoseMary (Randy) Murray of Flushing, Ramon (Nanette) Gonzalez, Jr. of Burton, Anna Gibson of Flint, Gloria Worsham (Louie Harrod) of Grand Blanc, Lisa Gonzalez-Gronauer of Davison; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her father and mother, Jesus and Marianna Ascencio; brothers, Angel Ascencio, Jose Ascencio, Jesse Ascencio, Eulogio Rodriguez; daughter, MariaEstela Perry; and grandson, Aciano (Chano) Carrasco.
