SMEADER, Jeanette Marie – of Montrose, age 82, died Friday, February 13, 2026 at McLaren Flint. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 23, 2026 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Christian Salata officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus Council # 8669 or Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Jeanette was born February 26, 1943 in Harbor Beach, Michigan to the late Thomas and Stella (Puvelowski) Kozfkay. She grew up in Harbor Beach and graduated from Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School with the class of 1961. On December 10, 1976 she married Edward Smeader in Bad Axe, Michigan. Prior to her retirement in 2001, Jeanette worked for the Montrose Public Schools as a Custodian with 23 years of service. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Jeanette liked Nascar and her favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. She enjoyed doing crafts, getting a blizzard at Dairy Queen, and traveling with her husband. Jeanette loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are: Husband of 49 years, Edward Smeader; Children, Stephen (Tiffany) Hunter, Rick (Nancy) Smeader, Cori (Dan) Jackett; Grandchildren, Mike Smeader, Mackenzie Spears, Emily Hunter, Mallory Hunter, Austin Smeader, Chandler Wellman; Great Grandchildren, Colton King, Peyton Spears; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Son, Mike Smeader; Siblings, Raymond Korfkay, Marvin Lorfkay, Norbert Korfkay, Stanley Korfkay.
