GARWOOD, Garrett Mitchell – of Flint, age 23, passed away April 7, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Ronald Shamel officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 11AM-2PM & 4-8PM Tuesday. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday. Garrett was born in Commerce Township, MI on May 27, 1992, son of Kenney Garwood, Jr. (Shelly Derenzy) and Marcia (Merrifield) Phillips (Dan Langell). He was a talented photographer, artist and great story teller. He loved nature, animals, singing and food. Garrett was the life of the party and loved to laugh, he was loud and contagious. He was very tender hearted and would give the shirt off his back for his family and friends. He loved movies, especially old VHS. Garrett attended Regency Cosmetology School and worked at Qdoba in Grand Blanc. He truly loved his job and coworkers. Garrett is loved by many and loved them back wholeheartedly especially sister, Paige. “Your windsong stays on my mind, My Broobear.”
Garrett is survived by his mother, Marcia Phillips (Dan Langell); father, Kenney Garwood, Jr. (Shelly Derenzy); sisters, Melody (Robert) Bretz, Harmony (Steve) Odette, Paige Smith (Brian), Morgan Phillips, Jenna Whelan, Jascha Whelan; grandparents, Ruth Ann King, Ken and Marlyn Garwood, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Kylie Odette, Gavin Horton, Maddex Odette, Myra Odette; Aunts and Uncles, Bruce (Michelle) Merrifield, Sue (Bill) Jennings, Rod Dearing, Angie Lafletch; many cousins, friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gale ; Aunt, Lisa Dearing.
