Filkins, Edward R. “Skip”, age 79, of Flushing passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. A graveside service will be held 11 am Monday, July 2, 2018 at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Skip was born in Owosso, MI. on April 15, 1939 the son of Rodney O. and Berneda Mae (Esterbrook) Filkins. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1958. He married Janet Ellen Barnes on September 24, 1960. He worked for McDonald Dairy Farm from 1960-1966. He left the dairy to work for Chevrolet Manufacturing and then Truck and Bus before retiring in 1997 with 31 years of service. Skip loved the Detroit Tigers and spending time with a bichon named Bella.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Carrie (Rick) Goforth, Jane (Dave) Turner, Sarah Filkins (Chuck Ajemian): and grandchildren William McMillan of Seattle, Sarah McMillan of Lansing, Rachel Ajemian, and Elizabeth Ajemian.
