Carol J. Klenow

Born: 4/20/1944
Died: 6/25/2025
Age: 81
Community: Goodrich, MI

Carol J. Klenow (Needham) of Goodrich, age 81, received her angel wings on June 25, 2025 at Charter Assisted Living in Davison. Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan to parents Earl and Phyllis Needham. She and her siblings were raised in Royal Oak, Michigan where she graduated from Dondero High School.

Carol was married to H. Larry Klenow for 40 years upon his death in 2002. They had been together since she was 14 years old. Carol worked the majority of her career at the Genesee County Road Commission where she began as a secretary. She retired after 20+ years as a Finance Director. She earned her Associate Degree from the University of Michigan-Flint during that time in accounting.

After retiring, she and her husband, Larry decided to spend their winters in Lake Placid, Florida. They always had to be home during the spring, summer, and fall to take care of the farm and enjoy their grandkids. Upon her husband's death, Carol decided to start traveling around the United States. First it was a truck and 5th wheel until she advanced to a Class A (40+ ft) motor home while pulling her car. Carol was a very independent and private person who traveled alone with her little dog, Angel as her co-pilot.

Carol belonged to several organizations including her travel group, Single International, Loners on Wheels, and The Elks. She was a treasurer of both travel organizations for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed organizing rally's state to state which she would meet up with friends and of course make new friends. Carol traveled around in her motorhome for approximately 18 years. Her rally's in various states were the highlights of her life. She stopped traveling only a few years ago when her health started to decline. Shortly after, it was decided for her to move back to Michigan to be closer to her children.

Carol is survived by her children; Wade (Lynn) Klenow and Michelle (Mark) Williams. Grandchildren; Corey (Ashley) Klenow, Justin (Maggie) Klenow, Hunter (Adrianna) Williams, and Haleigh (DJ) Williams. Great-Grandchildren; Beau and Bain Klenow, Lillian and Walker Williams, and Sawyer Ann Klenow who is making her arrival in August. Siblings; Barb Lemmons (CA), and Larry Needham (CA). Special Friends; Jane and Mike McClaren who would always make her laugh. Special Friends and caretakers; Koddi and Linda who took amazing care of Carol at Charter. They always had a way to win her over. They could turn that frown upside down. We deeply appreciate all the love and care you both, and the rest of the staff, gave to Carol and the rest of the family. You went above and beyond to make sure Carol was taken care of. Carol is "going up that hill" now right to Heaven to join the rest of her loved ones.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband H. Larry Klenow, her parents Earl and Phyllis Needham, In-Laws Lou and Tom of Quattlebaum, and her beloved travel companion, Angel.
