Douglas (Doug) Bingaman, age 69 of Flint, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 23, 2024. We invite you to join our family as we remember and celebrate the life of Doug on March 30, 2024 from 2:30 PM-6:00 PM at Sugarbush Golf Club, 1 Sugarbush Dr. Davison, MI. 48423. We will be sharing stories and our favorite memories of Doug at 4:00 PM

Doug was born in 1955 in Evart, MI. to Wayne and Betty Bingaman. After graduating from Evart High School, Doug earned his degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University. Doug married Denise (Wolverton) in 1977 in Evart. Shortly after they were married, a job opening at G.M. led them to Flint where they settled and raised their four children. Doug took a finance role for the City of Flint in 1990 and retired as City of Flint treasurer in 2011. In 2012, Doug went back to work as the treasurer of the City of Burton. Doug enjoyed working, but after showing the early signs of ALS in 2017, he decided to step back to spend more time with his loved ones.

Doug was a very kind, quiet man with a quick wit and always a smile. ALS stole a lot from him but it couldn't change the love he had for his family. His patient nature was a gift all through his life. Whether it be one of his kids totaling his cars or standing for hours teaching his grandkids to fish; he had a kind and loving way. Sports were always a big part of his life. He was a gifted athlete when he was young and loved supporting his own kids and grandkids at their games throughout the years. He loved U of M football, hunting, his weekly golf league, and he always had high hopes for the Lions.

Doug is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise (Wolverton) Bingaman as well as his children, Patrick (Katie) Bingaman, Jessica (Davide Lee) Gatica, Erin (Scott) Miller, Douglas (Ashley) Bingaman; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chad) Bundy, Gabriela Vargas, Nicholas Vargas, David Lee Gatica II, Andrew Bingaman, Claire Bingaman, Adam Bingaman, Addison Bingaman; his parents, Wayne and Betty Bingaman; his brothers, Stephen Bingaman, Roger Bingaman; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his granddaughter Olivia Lee Gatica.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Doug’s honor to ALS of Michigan. The family is forever grateful to Heartland Hospice, but especially to our mother Denise, who took exceptional care of him through his illness.
