Died: 6/28/2026
Age: 72
Community: Clio, MI

Crespo, Michael Joseph, of Clio, age 72, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Michael was born on November 30, 1953, in Flint, MI to Joseph Ramon and Leona Rosemary (Lane) Crespo. Following the death of his father, his mother married Jim Kimmel in 1956, who lovingly raised him as his own. Michael attended Mt. Morris schools and graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson Memorial High School in 1971. He married Joan Farlow on August 25, 1973, and they shared 52 years together. Michael was a Superintendent for Genesee County Water and Waste Services until his retirement in 2005. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working part-time at Cardinal Machine Company alongside his son-in-law.
Mike enjoyed hunting camp and had a passion for fly fishing, a craft he enjoyed teaching family and friends. Mike was known for his pristine vehicles, his immaculate lawn, and long, drawn-out home improvement projects that were not considered complete until they were perfect. He found joy in these hobbies, but his greatest happiness came from being with those he cherished most. Mike loved spending time with his family and watching his girls – and later his grandchildren – in their many activities.
Surviving him are his wife, Joan, and their daughters Courtney (Jeremy) Clontz of Frankenmuth, Sarah (Leo) Vasquez of Frankenmuth, and Dr. Shelby Crespo of Clio; grandchildren Tanner, Reece, and Griffin Clontz, and Isabella Vasquez; sister Sherry (Mark) Hemingway; brother-in-law Steve Martin; nieces and nephews David (Nicole) Crespo, Dominic Crespo, Jasmine (Mark) DeRosia, Tiffany (Dan) Maples, Jon (Mel) Wilkinson, and Kaili (Mike) Frazier; special sister-in-law June Leonowicz and nephews Brent and Brock Leonowicz; best friend Jim “Moon” Petit; and many good friends and fishing buddies.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, David Crespo, Sr.; his sister, Linda Martin; and dear friend Walt Olkowski.
Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Michael’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on July 8 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, one of Michael’s favorite charities.
