KAH, Daniel Awrey - Age 85, of Flint Township, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 402 S. Ballenger Highway, Flint. Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Friday from 4-8 PM; and at church Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Camp Arcadia, P.O. Box 229, Arcadia, MI 49613.
Daniel was born September 7, 1940 in Sidney, OH the son of Harvey and Dorothy (Gieseke) Kah. He was a 1958 graduate of Sidney High School in Sidney, OH; he then attended Bowling Green State University; then he received a Bachelor's Degree from Bemidji State University Bemidji, MN; and a Master's Degree and Education Specialist Degree from Eastern Michigan University. He married Sherl Caster June 17, 1972 at First Presbyterian Church in Flint. Daniel retired after 28 years as a teacher from the Flint Community Schools; he also taught at the Detroit College of Business for 18 years. After retirement he worked in the bakery at VG's and the Old Farmers Market in Flint. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint. He was a volunteer for North End Soup Kitchen and the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. Daniel achieved Eagle Scout Status, Master Gardener and a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and calm coloring.
Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Sherl; children, Beth (Deri) Mick of Swartz Creek, Laura (Scott) Boom of Byron Center and Tim (Suzy) Kah of Davison; grandchildren, Logan (Mary) Pyscher, Connor Mick, Logan (Nate Truckey) Mick, Zach (Janelle) Boom, Shelby (Ryan Ham) Boom, Gavin Boom, Parker Boom and Allison Kah; great grandchildren, Sophia, Kinsley, Pat, and Theo; special cousin, Genevieve Conradi; and many nieces and nephews.
