Eleanor Ann Stoutenburg of Davison, age 94, died Tuesday September 22, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. A private family funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday September 26, 2020 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Fr. Carl Simon officiating, with burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 3-6 pm Friday at the funeral home. Due to CDC Guidelines social distancing and small gathering at one time will be followed. The family would like you to join them but understands you may or may not at this time and respect your decision. Those desiring may make contributions in Eleanor’s memory to the charity of your choice.
Eleanor was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on January 1, 1926 the daughter of the late William & Kathryn (Toomey) Broderick and has resided in the Davison area since 2000. She was joined in marriage to the love of her life James Stoutenburg on August 7, 1946, and for over fifty years they traveled the country and parts of Europe until he preceded her in death on July 12, 1996. Eleanor was a very loving and happy person whose positive attitude was encouraging to all. She loved animals and truly enjoyed “Happy Hour” and would want those who knew her to have a glass of wine in her memory. In the 1970 Eleanor returned to Mott College to study Geology and was recognized as the Freshman student of the Year, she loved her rocks.
Surviving is children: Kathleen and husband Tony Wonch, Jim and wife Coleen Stoutenburg, and Susan O’Hara. She also she leaves grandchildren; Andrea Watson, Kaitlyn O’Hara, Arielle O’Hara, and great grandson Lincoln Watson. Also surviving is brother William Francis Broderick and wife Cathy, and a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by sister Peggy Theresa Howley, and brother George Vincent Broderick. Please share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
