MOONEY, Viola J. (Hallett) – of Otisville, age 83, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Open Door Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Kim Metzer officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM – 12 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Open Door Church, in Viola’s memory.
Viola was born in Flint, MI on December 20, 1939, daughter of the late Walter and Viola (Pittenger) Hallett. She married William D. Mooney on November 21, 1955 and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2019. Viola was a cherished member of Open Door Church for over 50 years. She loved to play BINGO, sew and doing crafts. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Viola is survived by her children, Mike (Sandy) Mooney of Otisville, Bill (Carol) Mooney of Otisville, Theresa (Roman) Lewandowski of Tuscon, AZ, Cindy (Dale) Schaaf of SC and Shawn (Byron) Norris of Otisville; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Sue (John) Howell; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by 10 of her siblings.
