McLAUGHLIN, William A. “Allen” – of Clio, age 92, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held 2PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Dale Lewis officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 1-4PM and 6-8PM and Tuesday from 1PM until the time of service at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Flushing Baptist Church.
Allen was born August 24, 1923 in Paragould, Arkansas to the late William Earl and Goldie Marie (Hinman) McLaughlin. He married Catherine H. McLaughlin “Katie” on July 29, 1944 in Austin Ave. Baptist Church where he was also a Deacon and financial secretary. Allen was a devoted husband and they enjoyed 66 years together. Katie preceded him in death October 10, 2010. Mr. McLaughlin is a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Army Boxing Team. Allen retired from Buick April 1, 1990 with over 47 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #599. He had attended Ambassador Baptist Church and then North Flushing Baptist Church. Allen enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and classic cars.
Surviving are: Children: Pamela (Elmer) Franklin of Hartland, Patricia O’Neal of Tennessee and Bruce McLaughlin of Mt. Morris; 5 grandchildren: DeAnn (Bryan) VanSickle, Andrew (Wendy) Franklin, Eric (Heidi) Franklin, Morgan (Amanda) O’Neal and Lee (Christina) O’Neal; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Earl McLaughlin in 2006 and son in law, Earl O’Neal Jr. in 2015.
