KALMBACH, Richard Cris – of Swartz Creek, age 94 died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Wellspring of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run, Michigan. Pastor Jim Chinery officiating. Burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Wellspring Lutheran Services or Genesee County Humane Society.
Richard was born October 23, 1923 in Flint, Michigan to the late Christopher and Hattie (Stilson) Kalmbach. He grew up in the Birch Run area and graduated from Birch Run High School with the class of 1941. Richard married Nancy Blunt on April 8, 1977. He has resided in the Swartz Creek area for the last 40 years. Richard served his country in the Naval Reserves as a Pilot. Prior to his retirement in 1986 he worked for AC Spark Plug - GM for 37 ½ years. He was a member of the UAW and the Greater Flint Pilots Association. Richard was a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying. He also liked working in his yard and going on fishing trips with his brother Dale.
Surviving are: Wife, Nancy; Children: Dr. Richard (Irene) Kalmbach; Step-Daughter: Vicki (Jack) Gray; Grandchildren: Jeff (Nicole) Kalmbach, Jason (Emily) Kalmbach, Shae (Steve) Kalmbach, Brad (Sheryl) Kalmbach; Step-Grandchildren: Tony (Nicki) Aguilar, Gina Nichols, Christian Nichols; Great Grandchildren: Lillian Kalmbach, William Kalmbach, Olivia Kalmbach and one Great Grandson on the way; Step-Great Grandchildren: Drake, Alexis, Makayla, Ashton, Jayden; Sister-in-Law: Delores Kalmbach; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and several special neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 Sons: Bradly Kalmbach, Scot Kalmbach, Step-Son: Curtis Gray; Great Grand Daughter: Sydney Black Kalmbach; Brother: Dale Kalmbach; Sister: Rachael Dunn.
