Edward Nathan Baize Jr., known lovingly as Eddie, passed away suddenly at home on August 13, 2026, after a life marked by devotion, energy, and a spirit that lifted the people around him. Born on April 19, 1964, he lived with purpose, worked with pride, and loved with his whole heart.
Eddie was a loving husband, a proud father, a devoted grandfather, a loyal son, a caring brother, and a treasured friend. He is survived by his wife, Becky, whom he married in 2010, and by his mother, Marcia (Doug) Cole. He leaves behind his son, Bryan (fiancée Emily), as well as his grandson, Levi, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Tim (Sherry) Baize and Mary (Cecil) Batchelor. He will be remembered by his first mother-in-law, Sharon Glover, many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of close friends who knew the value of his loyalty and the warmth of his presence.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Ed Sr., his first wife, Kelli, his past father-in-law, Brian Glover, and his current in-laws, Edward and Norene Allen. Though their absence was felt deeply, Eddie carried the strength of family history with him and honored those connections through the way he lived. He understood that love does not end when life changes, and he held onto the people who shaped him with gratitude and respect.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Eddie work at the Oakland Press till 2010 and retired from LP+P in 2026 after years of steady dedication and dependable service. Retirement did not slow his spirit. It simply gave him more time to enjoy the life he had built and the people he loved. He was a member of Willow Springs Golf Club, where he found fellowship, friendly competition, and the simple joy of time well spent. Ed believed in showing up, doing the job, and taking pride in the work, and that example will continue to speak for him.
Ed lived life with interests that reflected both his adventurous side and his appreciation for the good things that make life memorable. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, classic cars, cards, estate sales, and casino trips. He also cherished the moments that mattered most, which were the times spent with family and friends. He knew how to enjoy a day, how to make a memory, and how to turn ordinary moments into stories worth telling. His life was a reminder that joy is often found in the simple things when they are shared with the right people.
Those who knew Ed would describe him as loving, handy, and spirited, and those words only begin to tell the story. He was the kind of man who could fix what was broken, encourage what was discouraged, and bring life into a room simply by being in it. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and understood. He lived with heart, and he lived with fire. He did not merely pass through life. He engaged it, embraced it, and made it better for the people around him.
Funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville, where Family and friends may visit Tuesday 3:00 to 8:00 PM, and Wednesday morning 930am till time of service. Pastor Mark Wheatley officiating. Ed will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Branch Michigan. Memorial contributions in memory of Ed may be made to charity of your choice.
