Robert “Buck” Smithson, age 91, of Columbiaville died peacefully September 10, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends.
Buck was born September 12, 1926 in Flint, Michigan to the late Oshel and Lena Smithson. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
Buck is survived by his daughter-in-law Carol, brother Charles, grandchildren: Tricia (Alfred) Socia, Andrew (Shelley), Smithson, great-grandchildren: Josephine, Andrew, Zachary, many nieces, nephews, and special niece “Rock“. He was preceded in death by is parents, wife Arlene, sons: Wayne and Joseph, siblings: Joseph, Virginia, Carl, Richard, and Bunny.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned this time. Memorials in memory of Buck may be made to the Paradise Animal Rescue in Lapeer. His cremains will be inurned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A special thanks to his awesome home caregivers, Rhonda, Nicole, Cheryl, Cassie, Deb, and Nancy. His longtime home care nurse Julie, and all the wonderful people at Heart to Heart.
