Evelyn Meminger Hogue, 85, of Aledo, Ill. Died Sunday March 13, 2011 at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo. Services are 11:00 AM Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, rural Aledo. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Fippingers where memorials may be left to the Mercer County Animal Shelter. She was born June 21, 1925 in Trego, WI. to Herman and Mary Roessl Witt. She attended the Trego schools and married Lester D. Meminger May 17, 1947 in Rock Island. He died in 1982. She later married Etheridge “Eck” Hogue
Evelyn was a homemaker and farmwife. She was employed in the Housekeeping department at the Mercer County Nursing Home for many years.
She was a member of the former Church of the Nazarene in Aledo, the Sunshine Circle, the Ladies Lift Club and the Viola Women’s Club. She enjoyed scrap booking, playing cards and dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Bill) Landon of Farmington, IL, 2 sons, Gary (Peggy) Meminger of Rural Keithsburg, IL, Louis (Gail Empson) Meminger of Galesburg, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a sister Ethel Hooks of Moline, IL, 2 brothers Walter Witt of DeWitt, IA, Harvey Witt of Wheatland IA, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husbands, 1 son Carl, 1 daughter Karen, 3 sisters and 2 brothers preceded her in death.
