Passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Wellspring Lutheran Services, formerly The Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth; age 87 years. William was born on September 11, 1926 in Frankenmuth, MI. He was the son of William and Emma Daeschlein. William married Marjorie Klemm on October 8, 1949; she predeceased him on November 9, 2005. He later married Agnes Branham on May 19, 2007, she survives him. William will be remembered by many treasured friends and neighbors for his loyalty, honesty and good humor. His family will miss his love and support, and his absolute commitment to their wellbeing. William retired from Standard Electric Company and operated the Daeschlein Tree Farm for many years. He donated many of the trees that surround the “Willkommen 2014” sign on the bank of the Cass River in Frankenmuth. His roots in the Frankenmuth community go back to 1856. The Wokensdorfer Log Cabin homestead on M-83 is from William’s family farm.

Surviving besides his wife Agnes are; son, Michael (Melinda Wilson) Daeschlein of Williamston, MI; daughter, Kathryn (Ken) Ritter of Frankentrost, MI; daughter-in-law Karen Daeschlein of Wheaton, IL; 2 step children, Velma (Dave) Wilson, and Keith (Jackie) Branham; his beloved grandchildren, Scott (Leah), Lisa and Stephanie Ritter, Leanne Felix, David and Adam Daeschlein, Amber and Lillian Wilson-Daeschlein, and 3 step grandchildren; great-grandchildren Brooke Felix and Emma, Dylan and Drew Ritter, and 5 step great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Chadwick of Saginaw, MI, and 5 additional brothers and sisters-in-law; nephews Richard and Daniel Chadwick, and niece Laura Chadwick.

William was preceded in death by; a son, John Daeschlein, and a brother, Elmer Daeschlein.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. William’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
