Dr. Pamela L. Cox-Gower known lovingly to family and friends as Pam, passed away on July 13, 2026, at her home in Lake Orion, Michigan, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. She was born on December 19, 1957, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Richard and Pat (Yeck) Cox, and she carried the values of faith, kindness, and strength throughout her life.
Pam was a proud resident of Orion Township and a woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She was a breast cancer survivor since 2012, and she faced that journey with courage, grace, and determination. Her life was marked by resilience and by a steady devotion to the people and causes she held dear. She was a strong woman of faith, non-judgmental, and a friend to everyone she met. Her smile was worn every day, and it reflected the generous spirit that made her so deeply loved.
On February 20, 1991, Pam married Randy Gower, and together they shared a devoted and enduring partnership. She treasured her family and held close to the many relationships that gave her life meaning. She is survived by her husband, Randy Gower; her father, Richard Cox; her brother, Richard Cox Jr.; her niece, Audrey Nelson; her nephew, Kevin Cox; and her brother-in-law, Robert Gower, many cousins and a special friend Gail Larson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pat Cox and a nephew Matthew Cox. Pam also shared her heart with many dear friends and with her beloved dogs, Misty, Samual, and Benjamin, who brought her great joy.
Pam’s professional life reflected her dedication to caring for others. She graduated in 1984 and trained as a resident under Dr. E. Rozmiej, M.D. Doctor Pam spent her career in the medical practice, as a Pediatrics Physician where her intelligence and compassion were evident in all she did. In 1990, she helped form Pediatric Family Care, and in 2005 she was part of Country Creek Pediatric. In 2012, she served as Medical Director of Blue Cross, continuing a career defined by leadership, commitment, and service.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Christ the Redeemer Church since 1993. She enjoyed Scripture and found strength and comfort in her beliefs. Pam and Randy made several pilgrimages to Israel, Spain, France and Italy to deepen their religious faith. Pam was also known for her involvement with Shades of Pink, where she served as a “Sole Sister Team Captain,” encouraging and uplifting others with the same determination she brought to every part of her life. She made many friends, and her kindness made her a source of encouragement to all who knew her.
Pam found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener who loved bicycle riding, Bingo, traveling, and spending time up north at the cottage. She was also a Jeep Wrangler lover, and she embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. Whether she was tending her garden, enjoying time with loved ones, or sharing laughter with friends, Pam lived fully and with gratitude.
Those who knew Pam will remember her as faith-filled, intelligent, and kind. She lived with quiet strength and a generous heart, and she left behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and compassion. Her life touched many, and her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who were blessed to know her.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday July 17, 2026, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Lake Orion, Michigan at 11:00 am with visitation on Friday from 10:30 am until time of Mass with Concelebrants Fr. Bill Promesso, Fr. Joe Dailey and Fr. Ken Mazur is presiding. Private burial will be Saturday at Fraser Township Cemetery, Pinconning, Michigan.
