Robert “Bob” Vyhnak, 81, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, January 31, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 1-4 PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Bob was born September 16, 1929 in Davenport, the son of John and Fannie (Patarla) Vyhnak. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era. On January 6, 1952 he married Norma J. Gray in Davenport.
He retired in 1992 after 38 years with Bendix/Litton.
He loved playing cards and enjoyed golf. His memberships included Quad Cities Plus 60 and Bendix/Litton Retiree Club and was an enthusiastic volunteer. He never met a stranger.
Survivors include: his wife, Norma; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Mike Koranda, of Atlantic, IA and Cheryl and Bob Smith, of Blue Grass, IA; grandchildren and spouses, Shawn and Heather Koranda, Brad and Niki Koranda and Nick Dohse; great grandchildren, Emily and Drew Koranda and Reese Koranda; and nephews and their families, John Retzl, Bob Retzl, Dale Retzl and Steve Retzl.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Denny Retzl.
His grandsons were the light of his life.
