BENSCH, Robert G. "Bob" -Age 79, of Swartz Creek, passed away August 3, 2019. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka Celebrant. Visitation 1PM- 4PM and 6PM- 9 PM Wednesday with a K of C Rosary at 7PM Wednesday at the church. Visitation will continue 10 AM until the time of Mass Thursday. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or the Brighter Tanzania Foundation.
Bob was born March 7, 1940 in Flint the son of Kenneth Paul and Effie Leona (Chapman) Bensch. Bob attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Schools from first to twelfth grades. He then studied at Flint Junior College and Ferris Institute. Bob then started his 39 year career with GM retiring in 2001 as the Supervisor of the Engineering Test Lab at the V 8 Engine Plant. Bob was a very active member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He was a member of the Booster club and K of C Council 6694 achieving 4th Degree status and was a past Grand Knight. He also was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in St. Helen. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing, having scored a hole in one at Southmoor Golf Club. He also enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and tinkering on cars. In his later years, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren at his "Up North" cottage in St. Helen. He also loved his dogs.
Surviving are: wife, Rita; children, Catherine (Bradley) Taylor, Christine (Gregory) DeSilva, Michael (Mikako) Bensch, Karen (Christopher) Willour, Bethany (David) Payne, Jennifer (Charles) Dikos; grandchildren, Erica Taylor, Emily (L.T.) Thomas, Elisa Taylor, Mary Grace, Nicholas, Ethan, Natalie, Gregory, Jr. DeSilva, Kenny, Kyle, Nathan, Rebecca Willour, Donovan, Dawson Payne, Michael, Meghan Dikos; great grandson. Brock Taylor Thomas; sisters, Marilyn Polidan, Karen Albee, Janis King; stepsister, Denise Fineberg Lee; several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Martha Bensch; step siblings, Dennis and Diane Fineberg. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
